• Repetition is important. Using the same language in different places at different times will help our children learn and retain the words that they are hearing.
  • Be quiet. Initiating conversation can be hard for children on the spectrum, so sometimes, the adults need to stop talking and give the child a chance to figure out what they want to say.
  • For students with limited language, try narrating things as they are happening. This will give your child the words to go with what they are seeing and doing.
