When Tommy, a Fair Lawn resident and student at The Forum School in Waldwick, first arrived at Peter’s Fish Market in Midland Park as part of the school’s Structured Learning Experience (SLE) program, Peter’s owner Steve Sclafani recalls that he, “was very quiet.”
But, not anymore. “Now, he talks with us, we kid around. He’s part of the crew.”
Tommy has a developmental delay caused by a chromosomal abnormality. The Fair Lawn resident graduated last June from The Forum School, a New Jersey state-approved nonprofit school serving students with autism and related challenges.
